The success story of the Kidz Smart Tunnel at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (“KLIA”) begins early 2008. It all starts when the main operator retailer Malaysia Airports (Niaga) Sdn Bhd Eraman present their innovative retail development concept for a shopping mall at KLIA Contact Pier (“CP”) with an astounding 30,000 sq ft of retail space. This exciting new concept opened it doors to the public in December 2008 and has gone on to become a major success. This CP area includes duty free shops offering core products such as liquor, tobacco, chocolates/confectionery and perfumes & cosmetics. Together with fashion boutiques, souvenirs kiosks and restaurants, ERAMAN has created a “Life Style” concept in an atmosphere of exclusivity and a point of differentiation for KLIA.
In July 2009, the ‘Kidz Smart Tunnel’, with a total surface of 5,000 sq. ft, was presented to the public and can truly be considered the highlight of this innovative retail development concept. The ‘Kidz Smart Tunnel’ was especially designed for young travelers making it unique in the world. Shop-in-shop concepts were implemented for selected key brands around a vibrant rectangular tunnel with TV screens and specially designed structures/displays. The Kidz Smart Tunnel is every child’s dream come true, offering games, toys, books, chocolates, sweets and other products not just for children but also for the child in all of us. Just by walking around in the ‘Kidz Smart Tunnel’ will make you feel young again.
